Health Monitoring & Maintenance
Device development projects are being pursued in the area of health monitoring and maintenance; each of which addresses an unmet clinical need, involves state-of-the-art microsystems and materials, and requires meaningful collaborations between engineers and clinicians. Core Center funding built the interdisciplinary investigative teams that established the technical feasibility of a miniature wireless implanted pressure monitoring microsystem for chronic monitoring of unstable conditions without indwelling catheters, such as urological and colorectal complications of spinal cord injury. The team is also developing a device to provide pressure feedback for other treatment modalities and a disposable, integrated surface electrotherapy delivery system for accelerated wound healing.
