Facilities
The Advanced Platform Technology (APT) Center is a collaborative effort between the Case Schools of Engineering and Medicine and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. The APT Center interacts with the Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) and Macromolecular Science Departments. Faculty from EECS include experts in micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) fabrication, wireless communication for biological applications, amplifier design for biosignal (EMG and ENG) recording, and application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design. Faculty from the Macromolecular Science Department are experts in biologically inspired polymers and nanocomposites. APT Personnel include a Senior Engineering Manager and a Quality Assurance Specialist who provide services in specifying a formal development plan and monitoring the design schedule and budget for fabricating prototypes.
