Heat Safety Fence for Hot Wire Cutter
The Heat Safety Fence was brought to VehiCLE as a handmade prototype. The device covers a hot wire cutter so that indviduals with vision impairment can used the cutter without risk of burning themselves. It has several slots that allow for different types of cuts and knots in paracord.VehiCLE was able to make multiple prototypes for this project. The first was a 3D printed design that is light weight, easy to produce, heat resistant, and highly precise. The device is able to be secured to the hot wire cutters with thumb screws and has removable caps for different kinds of cuts. The second is a sheet metal design that has the same components, but completely out of bent metal. Both prototypes are undergoing testing, but the 3D printed versions are able to given to patients currently.
