Custodian Cart Sweeper Attachment
The Floor Sweeper Attachment project was brought in as a functional prototype, and was developed by our team to increase manufacturability, ease of use, and functionality while decreasing cost. The goal of the product is to collect dust and dirt from hallway surfaces as custodions push their carts along.Our design allows for easy attachment and changeout of the dust collection cloth. A slide on the bottom of the cart allows for a low reisistance lock when slid in fully, and easy removal for cloth changout. Clasps on either end(bottom left image) allow for quick release of the cloth and rubber slip, allowing for an easy changeout and assembly process.
This design has few manufacturing and assembly steps, and was updated and design to be extruded, which lowered the manufacturing cost significantly. These parts were printed on our AON 3D printer, but could me plastic extruded.
Next Steps:
The cart sweeper is being reviewed by Tech Transfer and the inventor, and will be marketed to industry partners.
