Nathan Makowski, PhD
Research interests
Dr. Makowski received a BS in Engineering from Hope College and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He then completed his postdoctoral training at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center and is presently on faculty at the MetroHealth System in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Makowski's research focuses on restoring mobility and independence after stroke. Projects include developing and evaluating assistive devices that coordinate neural stimulation with remaining function. These approaches include both implanted devices and non-invasive stimulation integrated with exoskeletal assistance.
